Introduction
The K4/0 Remote Panel uses the KBT4 Lithium-ion Battery Pack. (The KXBT2 KX2 LI battery pack will not work with this unit!)
The KBT4 Lithium-ion Battery Pack is a 10.8V, 5200mAh, 56W battery package comprising 6 LI cells.
(WHEN ORDERED WITHOUT A K4/0 Remote Panel, THIS BATTERY MUST SHIP UPS GROUND, or USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE if you prefer post office shipping.
Overview
The K4/0’s battery is charged internally using the K4/0’s built-in fast charger, which functions whether the unit is on or off.
While multiple battery packs can be kept on hand and swapped as needed, the only way to recharge them is inside the K4/0 itself.
On a full charge, the internal battery typically powers the K4/0 for 4 hours or more, depending on connected accessories (e.g., USB-powered devices drawing from the unit).
Shipping regulations for Lithium-Ion Batteries:
Until further notice, we are currently restricted to shipping up to 3 KBT4 batteries in a single shipment, with one of the three batteries inside a K4/0; this affects both US and international shipments. We cannot ship Lithium Ion Batteries to the following countries: Australia, Japan, Spain, and Thailand. Battery orders shipped separately from the K4/0 can only be shipped UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage- US only.

Q: Can the KBT4 be recharged while it’s installed in the K4/0?
A: Yes. The KBT4 can only be recharged while installed in the K4/0 while the K4/0 is either on or off.
Q: Can I prevent charging of the battery while it is installed in the K4/0?
A: Yes. The K4/0 “Charge Enable” Menu entry has three options:
- “Always”: Charge battery when the K4/0 is either on or off.
- “ON”: Charge only when the radio is on.
- “OFF”: Charging for the Battery is turned off, regardless of whether the K4/0 is powered on or off.
